2013 Royal Ascot Going Report Part 1

The best week of flat racing anywhere is set to kick off on Tuesday as Royal Ascot is set for its 2013 iteration. There is a lot to look forward to in this year’s contest and punters can expect a few days of solid racing action, big thrills and even bigger betting scores.

As usual, the first day’s action looks especially impressive and punters far and wide will be lumping their hard-earned down on the opening few races - which always seem to be well overbet. 

A great example of this is Animal Kingdom, who has been smashed down to 4/6 by most major bookmakers and even trades as low as 1.85 on the exchange at the moment. 

Animal Kingdom’s trainer Graham Motion has declared that he wants good going for Animal Kingdom’s effort and it appears as though the American-based trainer will get his wish. With a little bit of light rain in the forecast, there isn’t much to make anybody think we will see any dramatic alterations in the ground conditions at Royal Ascot. 

The long-term forecast for the week is mostly based around light rain with the possibility of a few thunder showers later on in the week. The entire course is currently listed as good with the standside going stick and the centre going stick both set at 8.5 while the far side is at 8.6 and the round is at 8.1. 

As the week goes on, punters can expect a few more clues about now the ground is playing and which types of horses will be favoured in the early betting markets.
