2014 FA Cup Betting Tips

Arsenal take on Hull City in the final fixture of the English Premier League season. While there is certainly lots to consider about this match, it’s important to remember that the last match-up between the two (where Arsenal won 3-0) will probably be quite different to how this one actually plays out.

Over the past couple of seasons we have seen the FA Cup really start to emerge as a competition that any side truly can win. After Wigan were able to pull off a resounding last minute victory last year to secure silverware, a European spot and a big payday - all while being relegated to the Championship.

Hull City have, once again, retained their Premier League status and it’s going to be interesting to see how this one actually pans out. The first goal is going to be pretty crucial and Arsenal will definitely be hoping that it’s their players who get on the scoresheet first.

Smaller clubs are generally a lot more motivated by matches like these as there is really minimal expectation on them. Even the bookmakers don’t really fancy Hull here despite them proving over the last couple of seasons that they can more or less handle whatever is thrown at them - particularly when they are dealing with larger top four clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.

As it currently stands, punters will find Arsenal trading at a 1.50 price with most major bookmakers with Hull City available at around 7.0 right now. The draw is a 4.0 shout and is interesting as extra time/penalties certainly isn’t out of the question at this point.

It’s pretty clear from the outset that the bookmakers expect this one to be pretty close - the shortest-priced correct score margin is a 1-0 result to Arsenal and it’s priced at a mere 6.5. The 1-1 draw (which is usually one of the shorter-priced correct score margins) trades at 8.5 while 2-0 to the Gunners pays out a solid 7.0.
