2014 PDC World Darts Championship

We’ve got an excellent line-up of darts action ahead of us as one of the biggest contests in the entire global program is set to unfold in just a few weeks time. The new year always brings about the PDC World Darts Championship and, over the past two years or so, we have seen Phil “The Power” Taylor’s stranglehold on the entire tournament be lightened up a bit with a new generation of talent looking to usurp his claims to the throne.

The preliminary contests are already under way but you would have to be a pretty serious fan of tungsten tossing in order to recognize a number of the names bidding to enter the tournament proper. The first round is also set to begin today and we’ll have a number of top names set to compete at the highest level.

Taylor will face off against Artut in a match that reserves him the shortest odds of the day for the outright victory. He is trading at an ultra slim 1.02 against a 13.0 price tag for Artut to sneak a famous victory. Stranger things have happened but it’s awfully hard to bet against Phil Taylor in this one - despite there being zero value in backing “The Power” to actually win the match as well.

James Wade is also in action here, facing off against J Lewis (a far cry from A Lewis) and he trades at a 1.10 price for the victory while his counterpart can be backed at a lengthy price of 7.0.

Raymond Van Barneveld, David WInstanley and Mervyn King are all in action today too with Adrian Lewis being the final fixture today.

While short-priced acca’s on a heap of favourites are usually pretty popular at stages like this, many punters are turning to the outright market, where they’ll find Phil Taylor trading as the favourite with a 3.0 price tag just ahead of Michael Van Gerwen at a 3.75 price. Gary Anderson can be backed at a 6.50 price while Adrian Lewis trades at 11.0.
