2015 Open Championship Betting Tips PT 2

As it currently stands, the bookmakers have the young American player ranking as the 7/1 favourite - which still represents a good bit of value for those who plan to back him in this massive field. Since it’s a genuinely tough course, you’re probably able to rule out a good portion of the field because it’s going to be tough to win this one in a fluke, so count out all the contenders at 100/1 or over.

The big challenge is actually expected to come from Dustin Johnson, who almost caught Spieth and forced a play-off at the US Open a couple of weeks ago amidst some last minute heroics from Spieth and a horrible three-putt cock-up from Johnson that handed the trophy to him. You’ll find Dustin Johnson trading as the 12/1 second choice by a pretty clear margin - expect him to be a very popular wager after day 1 if he can start strong.

Rickie Fowler has had some really up-and-down performances over the past couple of months and the visually flamboyant American is ranking as the third choice here to secure an Open Championship victory with a solid 20/1 price tag floated out there at the moment. He either tends to challenge for the lead or not make the cut so it’s an instance of all-or-nothing with Fowler.

Adam Scott is among a list of very established contenders who all rank at 25/1 price tags - any of these players could logically win this and you’ll find the likes of Henrik Stenson, Justin Rose, Louis Oosthuizen and Jason Day all trading at that same 25/1 margin.

Both Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are trading at 40/1 prices which look far too short considering the circumstances that both of the are dealing with at the moment. Things definitely look like they are going badly for Woods, who was able to put in a few decent rounds in recent weeks but really just looks a shadow of his former self. If Tiger was to get things back on track, you couldn’t think of a bigger platform in which to accomplish that.
