2016 Qipco Champions Stakes Betting Preview PT 1

As we approach the final few days of the formal flat season, virtually all punters are starting to turn their attention towards the upcoming Champions Day set to unfold at Ascot. With two weeks still to go, the ante post markets are far from settled and there are a number of fascinating betting opportunities available out there for the savvy punter – none more so than in the feature contest of the day – the Champions Stakes.

In the past we know you were sure to check out Bet365 for their best odds guaranteed on all the Champions Day Action but this year, they are going above and beyond the call of duty to offer Best Odds Guaranteed Plus(!) on the action at Ascot. This means that you'll get even more value on their best possible odds - say you back a winner at 3/1 and he comes out of the gate at 4/1 - you'll be getting a whopping 9/2 margin!

This offer is valid on British and Irish races and even includes multiples - uncapped! Think of how much that could affect your bottom line!

While the feature race hasn't really been around all that long in the grand scheme of things it remains an important test for some of the more important contenders who may not be at their absolute best going 1m4f but not competitive at the mile distance either.

This means there is a lot to like about the chances of Almanzor, who lines up for J-C Rouget. The three-year-old son of Wootton Basset out of a Maria's Mon mare has fired off four victories on the trot – tracing back to his second effort of the seaosn which came at Chantilly in a Group 3 contest.

The breakthrough score happened in the Prix Ju Jockey Club about a month after the first victory and he was able to beat out a tough group of 16 to deliver for punters at a hefty 20/1 listing. He was well-backed the next time out but still didn't go off as the favourite when he ran at Deauville in a Group 2.

The big claims to be able to take this race came when he pulled off his last victory – a smashing win over Arc Winner Found. He was sent off at a 7/1 price tag on the day and looked good doing it against a very difficult field of contenders. Look for him to continue moving forward for this one and looking good as the punters begin to pile on.
