2017 Ascot Gold Cup Betting Tips PT 2

Expect Order of St George not to deviate from his usual run of things with a mid-pack tracking performance looking like the most likely option. The fact remains that he has been beaten in the past by a few runners who will be lining up here so don't be surprised if you see Ryan Moore opt for a change in tactics.

Sheikhzayedroad is one of the contenders who has gotten the better of Order of St George in the last year when he captured the Long Distance Cup on Champions Day at Ascot. It's worth noting that it's only a 2m event so there is an additional 4f to cope with here – something that really seems to suit Order of St George over the likes of Sheikhzayedroad.

He's been out twice so far this season with a third place finish in each of his efforts – both coming at Meydan. He lost out to Vazirabad in the Dubai Gold Cup and was only a length and a half back at the wire in an oddly-run race.

He's worth taking a look at with a price of around. 12/1 – particularly on the each-way option. It's worth noting that he finished third in the race last year about five lengths back from Order of St George.

Vazirabad looks to be the main spoiler here and you'll note his last victory came at Chantilly when he took a Group 2 encounter going 1m7f and delivering at a very short price of about 2/11. Prior to that he took the Dubai Gold Cup as the 9/4 favourite and it's worth noting that this will be his first effort at Ascot in general so he definitely comes into this one as the relatively unknown quantity.

Look for Vazirabad at a price of around 6/1 with most major bookmakers.

Beautiful Romance is very much in the mix for this race too and she finished second to Vazirabad last time out at Meydan and is very plausibly priced for this one at a listing anywhere between 12/1 all the way up to 16/1.
