Ireland Cricket Shock prompts odds revamp

Following the greatest shock ever in cricket, Ireland’s odds of glory in the Cricket World Cup have been slashed to 150/1 from 500/1 by bookie Paddy Power.

Pakistan were red hot 1/25 favourites but were turned over by the unlikely Irish team who were 8/1 outsiders just to win that match.

With a place in the “Super 8” very likely, Ireland will face such cricketing giants as England and Australia in the next World Cup stage.  Paddy Power are offering odds of 6/1 that Ireland go on to beat England, and 14/1 to beat Australia.

It may be an unlikely 66/1 that Ireland qualify from the Super 8, but it’s just even money that Ireland fare equally as well as England in the World Cup.

Paddy Power said, “what a performance, I can’t believe we’re going to have Ireland playing England in the Cricket World Cup – I can’t wait!  Patriotic punters are starting to believe the hype and we’ve had plenty of takers at 150/1 this morning.  But surely we can’t go on and win the World Cup, can we?”
