Don't fall for the temptation to hand co-hosts Switzerland a shock win against already-qualified Portugal at Basel in the last round of Group A matches. Luis Felipe Scolari may rest a lot of his first-team stars but the replacements will still be too good for the Swiss.

It's true that Portugal will be eyeing up their quatrter-final with Germany but Scolari is not the sort of coach to let his team rest on their laurels and besides his charges are on a winning run that they won't want to see ended in a match where replacements are playing for a role in a later game. 

Switzerland have been a disappointment in front of their home fans and when they conceded an injury-time winner to Turkey their nigfhtmare scenario was complete. They are desperately low on confidence so take the easy money on offer and back Portugal to win at 5/4.

Turkey v Czech Republic (Geneva)

Geneva will be the scene of the real drama in Group A as both sides want to avoid a draw. If the match did end in a tie then who would progress along with Portugal would be decided by penalties - a scenario both will be keen to avoid.

Both teams have failed to impress so far which makes the prices the more surprising given that they are closer than the 5/4 about the Czechs and 5/2 about Turkey quoted by bookmakers. The Czechs were fortunate to beat the Swiss in their opener while Turkey left it very late against Switzerland but were as impressive in victory.

In truth Turkey are a more attractive price and in Nihat Kahveci they have a likely hero. He bagged two deciding strikes in their final two must-win fixtures in qualification and scxored 18 times for Villarreal in La Liga this season - he is 11/4 to score again.
