Everton vs West Ham Betting Tips

December 01, 2006 - Ian Ross Everton's form has been rock solid at Goodison Park so far during the current campaign and David Moyes' men must fancy their chances of bagging three points when West Ham visit on Sunday. The east London side have been poor on their travels in all competitions this season, and have failed to achieve a solitary victory in seven Premiership fixtures away from the Boleyn Ground.
 
The Hammers are misfiring on all cylinders at present. Alan Pardew's charges, who are perilously close to the dreaded relegation zone, have scored just ten goals in their 14 matches played in the Premiership to date and the fact that they have netted just four in their last ten is particularly disconcerting. Bobby Zamora has scored half of West Ham's ten goals this season, but it's been nearly three months since he last delivered.
 
To add to Pardew's woe, Danny Gabbidon has been ruled out for a month after tearing a hamstring during his side's 1-0 home victory over Sheff Utd, while West Ham's goalscoring potential continues to be hampered by the absence of Dean Ashton, who is still several weeks away from returning to the fray owing to the broken ankle he suffered during pre-season. Argentine striker Carlos Tevez has yet to fully settle in too, so there's far more negatives than there are positive surrounding the Hammers.
 
Currently ninth in the league, the Toffees are just three points adrift of the teams in third and fourth place, Portsmouth and Bolton, so the Merseyside club have everything to play for. Indeed, with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs struggling to string a good run of results together, the race for third and fourth places is more open than anyone will have predicted at the start of the season.
 
If they can maintain consistency, Everton are in with a big shout of reaching the promisedland that is the Champions League next season. Recently the Blues have been missing Andy Johnson and Tim Cahill, scorers of 11 of Everton's 18 goals gained in the Premiership so far this term. However, Johnson is likely to be fit for Sunday's fixture, news which will hearten the side, although Cahill looks set to need more time before making a return.
 
I cannot envisage anything less than an Everton victory - and probably a convincing one at that. I am actually surprised - but not complaining! - that Paddy Power are offering odds of 2/1 about Everton in the to win to nil market. Stan James offer of 11/8 looks much close to the mark. As such, my advice is for punters to get stuck in.
