FA Cup

The FA Cup is England's premier Cup competition and posses a rich history in the game. It is a knockout competition and at the third round stage it throws up the prospect of a giant-killing act as the Premier Legue teams enter the tournament and face the prospect of playing against sides from much lower down the foootball chain.

The 2008 FA Cup third round saw Coca-Cola championship side Coventry beat Premier League Blackburn 4-1 and Oldham knock Everton out as a host of Premier League sides were knocked out of the competition.

The big four sides have dominated the FA Cup in recent years and not since 1995 have a team outside of the Top four clubs in the Premier League - Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea - won the Cup. The current FA Cup holders are Chelsea who beat Manchester United in extra-time courtesy of a Didier Drogba strike as the FA Cup final returned to Wembley for the first time since 2000.
