The FA Cup is England's premier Cup competition and posses a rich history in the game. The 2008 FA Cup third round saw Coca-Cola championship side Coventry beat Premier League Blackburn 4-1 and Oldham knock Everton out as a host of Premier League sides were knocked out of the competition.

The big four sides have dominated the FA Cup in recent years and not since 1995 have a team outside of the Top four clubs in the Premier League - Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea - won the Cup. The current FA Cup holders are Chelsea who beat Manchester United in extra-time courtesy of a Didier Drogba strike as the FA Cup final returned to Wembley for the first time since 2000.
