It may not be an interesting prediction but the 5/2 Paddy Power have priced up about a Carling Cup semi-final first leg draw when Chelsea play Everton on Tuesday night looks the way forward.

While Chelsea's star is waning Everton's appears to be in the ascendant and the 4/1 about an away win for the visitors makes for considerable initial appeal. This viewpoint is enhanced by the fact that Everton manager David Moyes, whose side crashed out against lowly Oldham in the FA Cup third round at the weekend, has recalled all the big guns for the trip to Stamford Bridge.

Moyes has made no secret of the fact that his priority is for a high league finish this term but now that his side are in the last four of one of only two competitions they can win, he is likely to unleash a first-choice team on Avram Grant's men.

Tim Howard, Tim Cahill, Nuno Valente and Phil Neville all missed the trip to Boundary Park on Saturday but they return, along with Joseph Yobo and club top scorer Ayegbeni Yakubu – who are all about to leave for African Nations Cup duty.

Although Mikel Arteta (suspended) and Leon Osman (broken foot) are still out Everton will fancy their chances against a Chelsea side that required a Lee Camp own goal to overcome QPR on Saturday. Nonetheless Chelsea have an ominous home record – they have not lost at home since February 2004 - and, even without the injured Frank Lampard, John Terry and Didier Drogba, are a hard side to break down.

John Obi Mikel, Michael Essien and Souleymane Kalou are also about to leave for international duty in Ghana and will want to go out on a high but with the Blues struggling for goals of their own making a low-scoring draw seems the likeliest outcome.

Paddy Power are offering a cashback deal refunding all correct score, first/last goalscorer and scorecast bets if the last goal is scored by means of a header and, as these two sides shared a 1-1 draw when they met in the league, history could well repeat itself here.

Verdict: Chelsea v Everton draw @ 5/2 (Paddy Power); Correct score 1-1 @ 11/2 (Paddy Power's 'Heading out' offer)
