Punter cheer after England Euro 2008 rout

England are now as short as 1/5 to qualify for the Euro 2008 Finals in Austria and Switzerland after their comprehensive win over Estonia at Wembley.

Patriotic punters had a lot to cheer about after backing Steve McClaren's men to win 3-0 for the third game in a row and the men in white duly obliged with goals from Shaun Wright-Phillips, Wayne Rooney and an own goal.

Ladbrokes spokesman Robin Hutchison said: "We were short enough about England not to do any damage in the match prices but another 3-0 was a sore blow.

"We also laid over £10,000 at 10/1 up until kick-off on them winning Euro 2008 so confidence is obviously very high."

Scotland are now odds on at 4/6 from a top price 6/4 with Ladbrokes to qualify from Group B - which includes Italy and France - after their emphatic 3-1 win over the Ukraine at Hampden.

Alex McLeish's men have been cut to 50/1 from 80/1 to win Euro 2008 despite not making the finals of an international tournament in ten years.

Hutchison added: "We took on Scotland ahead of the kick-off and it came back to bite us. Fair play to the Tartan Army - they sent us homeward to think again."
