If Liverpool were playing anything like close to their potential then there might be a case for backing them to win at Stamford Bridge. But the fact is they are not, and it could be argued that unless Rafa Benitez quits his meddling with squad rotation then they never will.

But unless you're a Rednose you don't need to worry about that. All you need to concern yourself with is how much you want to lump on the home win for Avram Grant's side. Now, while Grant may look like some sort of creature out of Star Wars, he certainly has not disgraced himself since taking over from the Special One. And if that's not impressive enough, recent results have gone Chelsea's way despite the absence of John Terry, Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, Michael Essien and Souleymane Kalou. Clearly the Force is strong in this one.

To make matters worse for Reds fans, Liverpool have a miserable record at Stamford Bridge (they haven't won there in five attempts), they have not won more than one league match since Boxing Day, they have Daniel Agger, Andriy Voronin, Alvaro Arbeloa, Fabio Aurelio, Ryan Babel doubtful and, most importantly, Fernando Torres out injured, while Xabi Alonso is suspended and Argentina midfielder Javier Mascherano only flew in from Los Angeles on Friday.

Still not convinced? Okay, Lampard might return from his thigh injury, Ricardo Carvalho is back from suspension and Chelsea are unbeaten at home in 75 matches.
