Jol set to earn his Spurs

Judging by their relative league positions and the difference in publicity Spurs and Arsenal have received at the beginning of this season, you would think there is only one winner when these two sides clash at White Hart Lane. But are we really about to witness the demise of Martin Jol?

Nothing would get a season back on track better than beating the old enemy at home in front of 30-odd thousand fans. Tottenham fans have been starved of recent success against Arsene Wenger's side, but instead of deafeat Tottenham have made a habit of drawing against Arsenal at home in the last few seasons.

There is no denying that this is a crucial game for Jol. The knives were out for him after his negative substitutions turned what was looking like an easy victory into a 3-3 draw against Fulham and then there was the meeting between Chairman Daniel Levy and Seville coach Juande Ramos.

However things are not as bleak as they may appear for the Dutchman. He welcomes back into the squad club record signing Darren Bent and winger Aaron Lennon to add to his attacking options and he plays host to an Arsenal side yet to be tested this season/

Looking at the sides' fixtures thus far Arsenal have faced home ties having beaten Fulham, Man City and Portsmouth while Spurs have had to travel to Sunderland, Old Trafford and played an in-form Everton. Things are likely to be tougher for Wenger's young guns here and despite being buoyed by the manager signing a new deal and plenty of goals coming from midfield, expect Spurs to put up a challenge.

Arsenal are not value at a general 11/8 and while Spurs will start off nervy given what is potentially riding on this game, expect them to fire after the interval so the 11/2 available for draw/Tottenham on the haf/full - time market is too good to miss.
