Lewis Hamilton came within a point of winning the 2007 Formula One Championship in a year when the sport was rejuvented courtesy of the young McLaren driver, unrest at the Woking-based team betwen Hamilton and supposed top driver Fabio Alonson and the spy saga that threatened to plunge the sport into a hole that it might not get out of. I used to have a Scalextric but after a few laps of my cousin repeatedly beating me and nothing much to keep my attention bar whether I was going to race the red or the yellow car I soon got bored. It could be argued that Formula One has gone the same way in recent years.
