The free-scoring Cristiano Ronaldo found the net again with a cooly taken first-half penalty and a late goal from Ryan Giggs, who equalled Sir Bobby Charlton's appearance record for United, gave Sir Alex Ferguson's side a 2-0 victory at the JJB Stadium.

United are 7/2 to win the title for the next two seasons and 7/1 that they win the next three Premier League titles. They are 4/5 to win the Champions League final in Moscow on May 21 when they face Chelsea and Ferguson, who is 10/1 to leave Old Trafford before the beginning of next season, warned the Londoners that his side are raring to go.

"If we win the Champions League, I can say that this is the best team I have ever had," Ferguson said. "This side is developing all the time and now we will be bouncing into the game in Moscow."

Chelsea needed United to fall short in Wigan but it was the Londoners who were left wanting as an injury-time equaliser from Matt Taylor meant Avram Grant's side had to settle for a point and second place in the Premier League.

Bookmakers expect more of the same next season with United clear favourites across the board at 11/10. Chelsea are a top-priced 5/2, Arsenal are next in the betting at 11/2 and Liverpool complete the top four in the betting at 15/2.

Grant has been installed as favourite in next season's sack race at evens with Fulham's Roy Hodgson, Kevin Keegan and Gary Megson 7/1 to be the next manager to be shown the door. No manager to leave his job is available at 50/1.
