Mourinho to return: Football betting latest

The Special One, Jose Mourinho, is 7/1 to make a sensational comeback to Stamford Bridge to replace the man that replaced him at the beginning of last season Avram Grant.

Mourinho, currently out of work but strongly tipped to replace Roberto Mancini at Inter Milan, left the role in west London after a falling out with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich. However recent reports suggest the two are still friendly and that Anbramovich is willing to take more of a backseat in team matters if it means success for a club who fell at the final hurdle in both the Champions League and this season's Premier League.

The Portuguese manager has also been linked to a number of other top jobs, including the England role and Real Madrid, but his price was slashed from 20/1 when bookmakers received plenty of backing for Mourinho after speculation he has been in talks with Abramovich.

Fomer Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard remains the 9/4 favourite to replace Grant, with Mancini 5/2 and current Russia coach Guus Hiddink 5/1, although the agents of both Mancini and Hiddink appeared to rule thier clients out of the running this week. But nobody is as yet ruling out a return for the Special One.

Mourinho's fellow countryman Cristiano Ronaldo looks to be staying put despite media speculation following Manchester United's Champions League win. The goal machine is as short as 1/20 to be a United player on the first day of next season and 7/1 to be lining up for Real Madrid.

Beaten finalist Nicolas Anelka is 1/4 to be at Chelsea despite rumours of a bid from Tottenham Hotspur and Robinho is 7/4 to join him at the blues.
