Southampton vs Chelsea Betting Preview

Aside from a disastrous FA Cup exit at the hands of Man U, Southampton have drastically improved over the past few months. From looking virtual certainties to be relegated, Harry Redknapp has transformed the Saints into a decent outfit.

The St Mary's side are on a five match unbeaten run in the League, and are looking to complete three wins in a row for the first time since just before Christmas 2003. They've also not been beaten in 12 League matches at home.

This week Southampton face their toughest test yet against leaders Chelsea. This though may be an ideal time to meet the soon to be crowned champions. The only time the Londoners have lost this season came after an International break.

In addition an eleven point lead with just eight games remaining is unlikely to be overcome even if a loss is experienced on the South Coast this weekend. Man Utd are by no means guaranteed to win at home to improving Blackburn on Saturday.

With this in mind, it wouldn’t a surprise if Chelsea weren’t totally focused, especially with virtually their entire squad returning from a hectic period of International duty. The Saints squad of course were resting up.
