Logan's run comes to end on Strictly Come Dancing?

The English public again proved what a fickle bunch they are during the latest round of Strictly Come Dancing leaving normally light-hearted presenter Bruce Forsyth fuming, "I thought we were running a dancing contest."

The series has proved once and for all that in reality television shows the voting public can be relied upon to support their favourtie personalities despite what they are achieving on the show. Hence we have the support for GMTV presenter Kate Garraway who wil dance again next week despite giving a performance that merited just a handful of points from the judges, yet we see the back of joint favourite Gabby Logan who had been 33/1 to be evicted.

Logan was given the second highest score of the night by the Strictly Come Dancing judges yet was voted into the dance-off by the public on Sunday where she lost to Rod Stewart's wife Penny Lancaster. The judges were united in their uproar that they had to make such a decision given that both Logan and Lancaster were among the best dancers on the show and chief judge Len Goodman criticised the voting British public when he said, "this is not my role, my role is to vote off a weak dancer."

"Kate Garraway was the very well backed favourite to go but not one person expected Gabby or Penny to get the boot. Viewers like a journey and perhaps Gabby was just too good too early on," said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.

It would have hurt Gabby Logan more due to reports in the press that she had been taking training a bit too seriously and was set on winning the competition, plus her husband, Kenny, remains in the contest despite being mocked by the judges and in all truth, adopting the dancing style of a dog on heat.

But what does it mean to those of us looking to make money out of the next Strictly Come Dancing eviction? Well it is now a straight popularity contest. The Garraways and the Dominic Littlewoods' of the show are in the great position of being able to plead their case all week to the voting public via their TV roles plus they appeal to the people most likely to vote - ie those who are watching them on TV during the day.

The typical voter on Strictly Come Dancing is a middle-aged to old aged woman who feels an affiliation with the TV 'stars' and wants to keep them in because of it. Therefore Garraway and Littlewood will stay another week at least despite being 5/2 and 4/1 with William Hill respectively to be the next to go.

There will be a bit of a backlash this week with the judges trying to curry favour for the best dancers yet it all boils down to the fact that this controversy makes for good TV and as long as they keep beating the X Factor in the ratings, then nobody will care less. This week the next evictee is likely to be male - simply due to the fact that it was a female last week and in the early stages the voting tends to be cyclical - and a personality not that well known.

All eyes therefore point to Gabby's husband Kenny Logan to make it a one-two and to set things right in the Logan household and he is 5/2 on William Hill to do so as the bookmakers are thrown by what happened last week so have adjusted their odds accordingly.

Verdict: 2pts Kenny Logan next evictee on Strictly Come Dancing @ 5/2 (William Hill
