Twenty20 World Cup

The inaugural Twenty20 World Cup took place in South Africa during September of 2007. Prior to the 12-team tournament Australia were backed into 7/4 favourites with host nation South Africa 5/1 second favourites.

However it was the sub-continent sides who were to dominate the tournament and after India beat Australia at the semi-final stage they went on to beat Pakistan in the final by five runs. England were 8/1 to lift the trophy but a series of poor matches saw them finish bottom of their Super Eight Group and on a flight home ahead of the serious knockout stage. 

The 2011 tournament will take place in Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
