VCBet: Eurovision Song Contest - Greece pulls ahead
April 27, 2005VC Bet report that favourites Greece continue to attract support ahead of Saturday’s Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev.
”I’ve gone what I considered to be an industry lowest price at 2/1 but we are still laying the Greeks,” said the firm’s odds compiler Paul Moody.
“If support remains this strong I will have to cut them again.”
The Greeks were backed at a high of 12/1 at the beginning of April to send liabilities soaring above the £100k mark.
Malta and Hungary, along with the Greeks remain as VC Bet’s principal liabilities.
Interestingly, the UK’s entry sung by Javine has finally started to see support.
”Punters didn’t want to go near Javine for the first few weeks of trading but as the finals approach we are now seeing support for her at 40/1.
”I’m quite happy to remain at that price for a good while yet because I doubt that even if she popped out of her dress it would be enough for her to figure in the frame this year.”
