West Indies go into Thursday’s Test against South Africa with a new look side. Shivnarine Chanderpaul will captain the team in his native Guyana after former skipper Brian Lara and six others were left out over a sponsorship dispute.

Debuts could be given for batsmen Narsingh Deonarine, Donovan Pagan, and pace bowler Dwight Washington.

South Africa aren’t without their own problems with Shaun Pollock out with an ankle injury. Andrew Hall or Charl Langeveldt are likely to be the replacement.

Furthermore, Jacques Kallis will need to undergo a late fitness test to determine whether he is able to bowl in the game.

South Africa still start as firm to go 1-0 up in the four-match series. The best price on offer is 23/20 at VCBet, although some firms are going odds-on for the visitors – who have  an impressive recent record against the West Indies.

The home side are available at 10/1 to overcome the loss of so many established players, while the draw is quoted at 6/5. Four of the previous six Tests in Guyana have in fact finished level.
