Arsenal vs Manchester United Betting Tips PT 1

The marquee match-up of this weekend’ Premier League action is easily the Arsenal vs Manchester United fixture - a contest that has seen so much drama over the past few decades and is always played with a good spirit. Expect a lot of tough tackles and (more than likely) a red card in this one as both sides have to be looking at this match as a way to get themselves some momentum to propel them through the holiday fixtures.

Both teams are having a rather forgettable season after making some big signings during the summer months after the World Cup. United in particular spent big and are still mired in upper mid-table after they begun a tough run of games that has seen them manage a last minute draw with Chelsea and a tame 1-0 loss to arch-rivals Manchester City.

United are now also going to be without midfield anchorman/makeshift central defender Daley Blind (who has easily been one of their bright spots this year). He was originally said to be out for up to six months by the Manchester United twitter account before Louis Van Gaal personally quashed that speculation saying the injury is a lot less severe than initially suspected.

It likely means that we’re going to be seeing a lot more of Anders Herrera in midfield as he has been riding the bench for the past few months - due to the shift away from the 5-3-2 formation and the emergence of Marouanne Fellaini as United’ hard-hitting midfield presence and occasional goalscorer.

At the moment right now, you’ll find Arsene Wenger’s side trading at a 2.20 margin and it’s going to be a real test of Arsenal’s ability if they plan to get all three points out of this one. They are, as usual, a bit of an underwhelming side this year that will put together a great performance one week and then put in an absolutely hospital performance the following week. There isn’t much to encourage us that they are ready to put in a barn-burning performance here and their striking options continue to disappoint.

If Arsenal are to actually win this fixture, they are going to have to do it with a high-end defensive performance as opposed to a slick high-scoring match. This will be one that United’s defenders can use to make a real statement.
