Await The Dawn Clipped for International

As the 2011 York Ebor Festival draws nearer by the day, betting movement surrounding Await The Dawn has begun increasing. The multiple graded stakes winner is emerging as the betting favourite for the 2011 Breeders' Cup but he is still yet to win a Group 1 contest. This adds an especially interesting element to this race as the four-year-old bay looks to be given a very high level of expectation from the betting public.

After conquering his last three races by a combined 16.5 lengths, the son of Giant's Causeway is building himself up quite a reputation having merely been a promising three-year-old who took a low profile Group 3 at Leopardstown before his season ended.

The Juddmonte-bred has been bet down as low as 11/10 with the field being cut down to its final field of 10. As expected by virtually everybody in the racing community, international superstar Frankel was withdrawn and is expected to feature next month.

Aidan O'Brien's yard looks to be readying an impressive lineup for this one and Await The Dawn could have nearly half the field wind up to be his stablemates. Roderick O'Connor, Misty For Me and Windsor Palace are all entered for the race.

The Blue Team will be represented by Rio De La Plata, who was last seen finishing third to Frankel in the Sussex Stakes. Frankie Dettori is expected to take the mount.

Clerk of the course William Derby was confident that the wet weather would continue at York for some time but there does look to be a silver lining. "Showers are forecast tomorrow with brighter spells at the weekend, but what is forecast wouldn't be enough to ease conditions further. I'm pleased with the condition of the course, but would like some sunshine for next week."

The Juddmonte International headlines the opening day of the York Ebor Festival and kicks off next Wednesday.
