He is likely to make a move to either this race or the Champions Stakes but one thing is for certain – he deserves plenty of respect and could be poised to finally prove that he is better than Golden Horn who has finally been found out by one of the most unlikely of horses that a racing observer could ever have imagined.

Look for Jack Hobbs in the neighbourhood of 7/1 with most major bookmakers though you may still be able to find one offering 9/1.

Golden Horn got himself back to winnig ways after being defeated by Arabian Queen (who must surely have a date with American...

He was also defeated when he attempted the Prix Le Parisien at Longchomp, finishing second to Make Believe. You get the feeling tha was when connections really knew that hey had something on their hands as he was sent off at a 16/1 margin on the day but was only beaten three lengths by the impressive winner.

One key advantage that his contender has is the ability to run the race using different styles as he has won his last three racing prominently on the lead, tracking the leades and being held up at the rear early on.

That type of versatility is necessary...

Looking at the five-year-old daughter of Motivator, we have nothing put proof that she is an out-and-out Longchamp specialist and one of the only real angles that punters will be throwing against her is that she hasn't really faced off against too many of the top potential entrants in the 2015 Arc De Triomphe.

She has repeatedly beaten up on Flintshire but he's trading at a 25/1 margin for this one and looks more than a step or two off the pace despite his excellent recent performance when grabbing a victory in America on Travers Day at Saratoga. Treve has time and again proven to be a length or two better than he...

We have a lot of really interesting contenders in the mix here and we face the unique prospect of living legend Treve coming back for her third Arc on the bounce.

Qatar Racing saddles Mr Owen who enters off a listed victory at Deauville back in early August and you can expect him to push onwards and potentially achieve something new here. The bookmakers seem to be relatively confident with a listing of about 11/4 and it would be another feather in the cap of the Qatari operation which has just risen to prominence only recently after a string of excellent results globally.

As North American racing heads into its fall season on the heels of its Triple Crown champion being defeated by longshot Keen Ice at Saratoga in the Travers, we are starting to look towards a new set of meetings as the summer boutique meets fade into memory. There is still plenty of action left to unfold stateside though and a number of different subplots are developing as we head towards the Breeders Cup and the international contests around it.

There are three races after the feature contest here and they are all pretty appealing races from a betting perspective with manageable fields and some fairly open company here. The fifth race of the day is the Napoleons Casinos and Restaurants Handicap which goes 1m4f and it could be a really good day for Blue Wave who lines up for Mark Johnston and William Buick and appears to be the top choice from a ratings perspective and doesn't really have to concede a huge amount of weight to the bottom level here.

Charlie Appleby and William Buick team up again this time on Godolphin's Safety Check who is an interesting contender and could very well make a real impression here having just been beaten into third last time out after putting together a good series of victories having taken three on the bounce.

There will probably be more than a few who are looking to give him another shot here because he looks capable of beating any of these contenders if he truly runs to the absolute best of his abilities here.

With a deep field here you probably want at least another one to have a potential bash on and that looks to...

Next up we have a 22 strong field in the Ladbrokes Portland Handicap where we have a deep field of potential winners. It's always tricky betting big fields in sprint races since there is such little margin for error but no real questions over anybody's ability to get the trip. The pace dynamics of the race shouldn't be too extraordinary and there are many who be benefited by the good ground that will be on offer at Doncaster on Saturday.

We have a fantastic day of flat racing ahead of us on Saturday as one of the last big meetings of the season kicks off with St Leger day bringing the English Classic Season to a head and pointing the way to Champions Day, which will certainly have a big more context after Sunday's action at the Curragh as the Irish Champions Stakes is also about to unfold.
