COMMUNITY SHIELD MANCHESTER UNITED VS CHELSEA BETTING TIPS

We've got just a short time to go ahead of today's widely-anticipated fixture between Manchester United and Chelsea. This fixture is always the appetizer ahead of the Premier League main course next weekend, but I'm just hoping that we see a halfway-interesting fixture instead of some of the more forgettable affairs from years past.

Chelsea are the bookmakers favourites for this one with William Hill pricing them at 13/8 to win the match outright and Manchester United are now listed around 9/4. The draw is at 21/10 and that would see us through to penalties. 

A lot of Community Shield fixtures don't wind up as high-scoring affairs and that's why you can usually lock in some very enticing odds on goalscorer betting in matches like this one. 

Didier Drogba is the outright favourite goalscorer in the match, but there have been some questions over his fitness over the past little while. William Hill has him listed at a very short price, but there is a distinct chance that he may not start so I would wait until you see the teamsheets for this match before you place any substantial goalscorer wagers. 

Drogba is listed at 6/5 to score anytime and he's 9/2 to score first or last. Drogba to score two goals or more is trading at 5/1 and a hat-trick trades at 25/1. Nicolas Anelka is trading at 15/8 alongside Frank Lampard to score a goal at any point. 

Salomon Kalou has been in good form and he's priced at 11/4 alongside Daniel Sturridge. New Chelsea player Yossi Bounayoun could start today and he's listed at 7/2 to score for Chelsea. Michael Essien is also priced at 7/2. 

For Manchester United, Wayne Rooney is considered the favourite and you can back him at a 5/4 price anytime and a 5/1 listing first or last. Rooney is 6/1 to score two or more and 33/1 to score a hat-trick. 

Chicharito's odds to score are 15/8 anytime and 13/2 first or last- that's the same price as Michael Owen. Keep your eyes on Luis Antonio Valencia at 5/1 anytime and Nani could also be poised for a big match and he's listed at 4/1. 

Park Ji-Sung can sometimes be part of Fergie's big-match tactics and he's priced at an enticing 11/2 price.
