Cristiano Ronaldo Transfer Betting Odds PT 1

Now that the domestic leagues and the European season have finally come to a conclusion we are left with a summer devoid of a major international tournament (sorry Under 21 Euros) and you know what that means – rampant transfer speculation. With the absolute whitewash of money that has flown into several leagues over the past few years even the smaller and mid-table clubs are bandying about $50m purchases like it wasn't their entire wage bill just three or four years ago.

With so many big clubs in the market for new players, a lot of smaller clubs flush with cash to spend on big name signings and seemingly everybody who has ever played in the Spanish league getting charged with tax evasion – there are plenty of players on the move these days.

Obviously, the biggest name in the headlines is none other than Cristiano Ronaldo – the biggest name in global football. After proclaiming that he was “sad” at Real Madrid – likely due to him being charged in a Lionel Messi-style tax evasion scheme, Ronaldo looks to be genuinely ready to head for the exit door.

Some have speculated that the transfer saga is all smoke and mirrors meant to distract from the tax evasion charges to give the sports pages something else to talk about – and Ronaldo being on the move is going to dominate all the headlines no matter where you are.

The fact remains, however, that the bookmakers genuinely don't seem to be thinking that Ronaldo will necessarily leave just yet. You have to assume that they have plenty of options at Real Madrid so it's not exactly the end of the world should he decide to leave – and the ability to send a 32 year old player off on a world record fee would probably look like a fairly tidy piece of business, all things considered at Madrid.
