English Premier League Top Goalscorer Betting Tips

One of the most fascinating wagers in the English Premier League each season is the Golden Boot Award and you have to wonder just how the latter half of the season is going to unfold as we have so many in-form strikers grabbing goals all over the place. Oftentimes, there are plenty of examples where you will see only one or two plausible contenders trading at decent prices while everybody else is way behind and requires a bagfull of goals to catch up.

This time around it's a completely different story with the betting favourite right now trading at an 11/4 listing to lift the English Premier League Golden Boot at the end of the 2016/17 season.

As it currently stands, the bookmakers will be offering up Diego Costa as the betting favourite to secure the trophy and he's sitting tied for first place with Alexis Sanchez as they both sit on 15 goals scored. Several other top choices are right in the mix here too but you can help yourself to a truly excellent price if you're looking to bet against Costa.

There are several variables that work against him including the fact that Sanchez can be backed as high as 13/2 and has just as many goals as Costa, and you also have to think about whether he will pick up red cards (he almost certainly will) or pick up an injury (also plausible).

Manchester United's Zlatan Ibrahimovic is sitting on 14 goals right now and he has the benefit of a great supporting cast all around him and an offensive system that is clearly set up to help the Swedish striker score as many goals as possible. Right now, you can back him as high as a 7/2 margin while Tottenham's Harry Kane – who is also going through a real purple patch right now – can be backed as high as a 4/1 margin.

Manchester City's Sergio Aguero can be backed at a 6/1 price tag and that might be a popular wager – particularly if you don't think that City are done and dusted and can't offer up much of a challenge in the league this year.

Romelu Lukaku is also in the mix here and you'll find him trading around a 14/1 or 20/1 price and he is siting on 12 goals right now and could benefit from a strong finish this season and a better supporting cast around him.
