FA Cup Betting Update PT 1

While we still have the Bolton vs Liverpool fixture to sort out on Wednesday, the 2015 FA Cup is already looking like a really interesting competition from here on out after a very big iteration of the most famous cup competition last weekend. Now that the replays are (almost) settled with Manchester United securing progression over plucky League 2 upstarts Cambridge United, we just have the one fixture left before things are drawn for the next round.

It goes without saying that most think that Liverpool are going to walk away with their fixture against Wanderers and the bookmakers are pricing them at a relatively slim 4/7 price tag to get the better of the former Premier League team.

Should Bolton actually be able to knock Liverpool out of the competition (and let’s face it - that’s not out of the question), then it will be even more wide open regarding who is actually going to progress towards the Wembley final and pull this thing off when the end of the season rolls around.

The whole competition was shaken to its foundations when the top two favourites to secure the trophy were knocked out by much lower ranked opposition as both Chelsea and Manchester City fell on the same day. Chelsea in particular were the biggest collapse with a 2-0 lead evaporating into an extremely embarrassing 4-2 loss for Jose Mourinho’s men.

It’s probably entirely surprising to anybody that Chelsea’s vanquishers Bradford City are trading at a lengthy 125/1 to actually win the competition but they will enjoy another money-spinning fixture in the world’s oldest football competition during the next round of play.
