Latest Transfer Betting Round-Up Part 2

William Hill have a betting market out about Rooney’s next club on the date of September 3, 2013 and at this point in time it looks like Manchester United are still the favoured destination for the Scouse sensation. With a price currently listed at 5/6, Wayne Rooney is set to remain at Manchester United - at least for the time being. You don’t see him moving at a half-way point in the season as he will be cup-tied in the Champions League.

The most likely destination for Rooney, if he is going to actually leave the club, is Paris St-Germain and they are trading at 9/4 to secure the signature of United’s current striking talisman. With a lot of money being splashed around by PSG over the last couple of months, it appears as though the players they are assembling will be a formidable force with plenty of depth and European experience. Rooney would, admittedly, he an excellent addition to that group and it’s clear that PSG have the money to buy if they are, indeed, that interested.

The two London clubs, Arsenal and Chelsea, are both priced at 4/1 as Rooney’s destination and, of the two, you would have to reckon that Arsenal is the most likely because they seem to be the only ones actually making noise about signing him.

Whether Arsenal can afford Rooney’s salary package is another thing though as it will certainly alienate a lot of their current players who will see a new signing offered a pay packet that is well and above what they currently have access to.

Chelsea have been uncharacteristically coy in their approach to Rooney and it’s unknown what the relationship between Mourinho and Rooney truly is, so you’d have to assume Arsenal the more likely destination between the two.
