Manchester Clubs in Europa League Action

Both Manchester United and Manchester City are lining up shortly for a run at Europe's second most prestigious club trophy. The Europa League is now underway again and it appears as though both sides are expected to put up very good campaigns in pursuit of this trophy. Both have been handed relatively tricky draws for Thursday evening's fixtures with Manchester United facing off against Ajax in an away fixture while Manchester City travel to Portugal to face FC Porto.

Manchester City have recently welcomed, although you're not sure if that's the right word, Carlos Tevez back to the fold and it will certainly be interesting to see how he affects the dressing room atmosphere and proceeds to divide the camp once again.

You'd expect that if he doesn't see action right away he'll throw another hissy fit and take off for sunnier climes.

Manchester United have also been in the news but for completely different reasons. You'll note that United go into their fixture as the betting favourites while City are priced at the same price as the host side.

Hopefully, Sir Alex Ferguson's men can waltz past the racism-tinged issues with Liverpool last week-end in what really must be described as one of the sorrier moments in recent Premier League history. It looks like things are getting more volatile and more divisive but hopefully English football emerges a better product from this controversy.

Supposedly several hundred Ajax and Anderlecht supporters were arrested after planning trouble for visiting United fans.

United are listed at a 4/5 price tag for the outright win while Ajax are sitting at 7/2 The draw sits at 5/2 and that will probably be a popular wager for the neutral fan. Manchester United have several players returning to the fold for this one with Tom Cleverly a notable addition as he's been out injured for quite some time.
