Might Bite Still Favoured for Gold Cup Glory

The 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup is a few months away but a number of the top contenders are going to be off the track during the build-up to the grand finale of steeplechasing as the National Hunt season moves towards the Festival portion of its annual schedule.

This time around there is no real discernable favourite emerging aside from the likes of Might Bite but even that contender is still sitting at a 4/1 margin at the current moment with several top bookmakers. The majority of books seem to have him floated at a price of around 3/1 with a few going to a 7/2 margin as well depending on whom you’re wagering with.

Following that, last year’s winner Sizing John is the big story and he comes into the ante post market for the 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup with a price tag anywhere between a 6/1 margin and an 8/1 margin. This is indicative of just how lukewarm the punters have been about any substantial contender emerging ahead of the big contest.

There is a few really interesting contenders who are coming into things with the each-way market appearing to be an appealing prospect. Coney Island can be backed anywhere between an 8/1 and a 10/1 margin and you can bank on plenty of punters looking likely to take them up on an each-way bet with a 10/1 margin.

Our Duke is right in the mix too with a best price of around 11/1 at the time of this writing.

Road to Respect comes in at an identical price to Our Duke and you’ll also find the likes of Native River priced as high as a 12/1 margin. The odds then take a pretty big jump up to a 22/1 margin for Bristol Du Mai - with a few books going as low as a 16/1 price tag.
