Might Bite Still Favoured for King George VI Chase

With the chasing world aghast at the incredible performance put together in the Betfair Chase today by Bristol De Mai, we have seen his price collapse virtually across the board with most major bookmakers trimming his price down from around 16/1 all the way to as low as 5/1.

However, it looks as though they are still convinced that Might Bite is going to be the big play for most of the punters - having left his price unchanged.

In what turned out to be one of the largest margins in the recent history of National Hunt racing - Bristol De Mai won by an astonishing 57 lengths in Grade 1 company in the first Grade 1 of the entire season. There was a lot to like about much of his performance - making all similarly to how he did in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby a few weeks back.

Then as they entered the home turn with four left to jump, Bristol De Mai pulled ahead and pushed onwards as the two only other contenders in with a shout - Cue Card and Tea For Two - began to fade away badly. His slight blunder at the second to last brought gasps from the crowd but he stormed home confidently - nearly in the unsaddling enclosure by the time the others had even bothered to actually hit the finish line.

Going forward, punters will now find Might Bite at his 5/2 price tag with a couple of bookmakers going as short as a 9/4 listing. There is plenty of attention being paid to Thistlecrack as well and he’s a 7/2 shout - and looking pretty decent value though you reckon his price may drift up on the day.

Fox Norton and Sizing John also both remain unchanged at an 8/1 listing.
