Next Prime Minister Betting Update

After unveiling what appears to be another extremely unsuccessful attempt at a Brexit deal, UK Prime Minister Theresa May could be heading out the door sooner as opposed to later. In the latest chapter of what has been an ongoing stream of near-misses for the PM, it appears as though things have reached a boiling point in the House of Commons.

The betting markets are also starting to heat up and the market for the next Prime Minister appears to be one of the most exciting.

As it currently stands, the bookmakers appear to be thinking that Boris Johnson looms large as the potential next UK Prime Minister and he’s being priced at around 2/1 as the betting choice. There are a few bookmakers who have him floated around a 5/2 listing and you can bank on his price to continue to drop as May’s departure begins to look more likely.

Johnson has been an outspoken critic of the goings-on in the House of Commons and May’s inability to bring together a deal that can work for all of the various sides being represented makes him a logical, if controversial, next step for the United Kingdom.

David Lidington is available as the second choice favourite and he’s trading around a 3/1 listing with a couple of books going as short as 9/4. Dominic Raab can be backed around a price anywhere between 11/2 and 7/1 right now with most major bookmakers.

The odds then take a big jump to Michael Gove with a price of around 14/1 while Penny Mordaunt is trading anywhere between an 18/1 and 25/1 listing.
