Paddy Power Pays Out On 2008 White Christmas Betting

In a move reminiscent of their advanced pay out on Barack Obama's victory, top Irish bookmaker Paddy Power have today decided to pay out over £100,000 to all players who backed a white Christmas this year. This has taken place a full ten days ahead of Christmas Day.

UNSEASONABLY PROFITABLE

The unseasonably low temperatures throughout December prompted Paddy Power to slash the odds on snow to fall on Christmas Day from 6/1 to 4/1 earlier in this month and again yesterday to 2/1. Clearly, anybody who got in early is set for a hot payday.

A record 4,950 bets were placed by punters across the UK and Ireland on a white Christmas this year and all those lucky punters will be collecting their winnings today regardless of where they bet on snow to fall.

Temperatures are set to fall even further this week with meteorologists forecasting one of the coldest December's in recent times.
