Presvis Returns to Meydan This Thursday

Dubai Duty-Free winner Presvis will return for a seasonal debut in the Group 2 Al Rashidiya at Meydan this Thursday. He will be looking to replicate a score in this very same race on debut last year and then will push on towards the aforementioned Duty-Free on the feature night of the meeting on the undercard to the World Cup.

The only blemish on his Dubai resume last year was a tough third to Wigmore Hall when coming up game, but not close enough, in the Group 2 Jebel Hatta.

Presvis, an eight-year-old gelding by Sakhee, returned to Asia before genuinely going off the boil with a disappointing sixth in the BMW Champions Mile and a ten place finish with Richard Hughes in the irons at Kranji in the Group 1 Singapore Airlines World Cup.

Having won a lifetime total of £4.3 million, Presvis' connections will be expecting another year at the top of the game and there could be rumours about a seasonal finale at the Breeders' Cup in Los Angeles if he is firing on all cylinders come the fall.

There will be some real talent lining up against him on Thursday with Musir looking to be the toughest of the lot. He finished ahead of a tricky group that included Mahbooba and Master of Hounds in Round 3 of the Al Maktoum Challenge.

City Style, a six-year-old gelding by City Zip, emerges off the handicap circuit after taking his first race after nearly a year on the sidelines when besting a field of thirteen. This contender boasts some experience over the surface at Meydan and looks sharp with some nice Canadian breeding on the dam's side.

Rajsaman remains in the mix for this one but will be tasked with a tough weight assignment of 119 compared to the 107 many others will be carrying. Presvis will be running at 120 with Musir well-weighted at 117.

Look for Godolphin to be expecting a thing or two from their colt by Dr Fong – Sandagiyr. He's not put much together since scoring at Chantilly last May in a listed contest but he's had a three month freshening and will be looking to factor with Silvestre De Sousa being given a chance.
