Stan James Free Bet for Germany vs Greece Euro 2012

The bailout fixture kicks off today in just a few hours with tensions running high in political backrooms and the football pitch itself. Germany vs Greece was something you couldn't have even gotten odds on earlier in the Euro 2012 tournament because it sounded so hilariously coincidental. Well, here we are.

Germany go into this one as the significant favourites and that's hardly surprising when one considers that they are the outright favourites to win the tournament itself. The bookmakers have them priced as short as 1/3 to win within 90 minutes and a microscopic 1/7 to qualify by any means. This latter wager would include extra time and penalties.

Greece will have one real goal for this one and that's grinding it out and not conceding. Penalties are their most likely method of victory and they have shown the ability to keep accomplished teams off the score sheet.

Germany's strategy for this one will be to score early and keep the pressure on. They have the quality of players to dominate the midfield and if they can get men down the flanks crossing from the byline, you can expect the Greeks to slip up eventually.

Greece can be backed at 9/1 to win the match within the 90 minute margin and they're 4/1 to qualify by any method. A penalty is a huge variable in this one and Germany may make a mistake at some point – this would see Greece get that 1-0 scoreline they'll be happy to defend.

Mario Gomez is considered the outright favourite to open the scoring and, if he has a good performance, it's going to be hard to see how Greece gets the victory. Punters will find him trading at 3/1 while Miroslav Klose can be backed at 7/2.

Greek player Theofanis Gekas is trading as their favourite to open the scoring with a 12/1 price tag attached.

Mesut Ozil has gotten the nod from the bookmakers to be named Man of the Match and punters may want to back him as the 5/2 favourite. Anybody expecting Greece to outperform here would probably want to take a look at goalkeeper Chalkias, who will likely have to put in quite a shift if they're going to pull off another legendary 1-0 scoreline.
