Steve Stricker and Adam Scott Duel for PGA Championship

A genuinely fascinating tournament is unfolding at the PGA Championship at Atlanta Athletic Club with several major names competing for headlines, both positive and negative. Tiger Woods, who had previously been well-backed by bookmakers to put in a solid shift in this major, saw his chances go absolutely pear-shaped as he carded a dismal 77. As it currently stands, Woods will need a second day score in the neighbourhood of 66 to ensure qualification for the two final days.

Bookmakers are no longer listing odds for Woods at this point.

Rory McIlroy is playing through the pain and has had his wrist taped throughout Friday's session. McIlroy's decision might be questioned later if the push winds up aggravating an injury. The bookmakers don't consider him a reasonable chance to win the PGA Championship, floating him at a 66/1 price tag.

Steve Stricker is the outright favourite and he began the day seventeen strokes ahead of Tiger Woods. The bookies have him still listed at an enticing price for the true believers. He was last seen at 5/2 with Ladbrokes.

Adam Scott is putting up a stern challenge and certainly isn't far back. He's been in good form as of late and the 7/2 listing he's trading at indicates that he and Stricker are the only genuine contenders at the moment. The next best-priced contenders is Lee Westwood at a 12/1 listing.

Several players including Nick Watney and Scott Verplank are doing business at 25/1 with Phil Mickelson available at a 40/1 price.

Each way odds bring several of those longer-priced contenders into the mix and, with a very compact field behind the top two, the fact that most bookmakers are paying out four or five places on the each way makes it an attractive option.
