Sunday Premier League Betting Tips Part 1

After taking off a Saturday for an unusually-timed FA Cup fixture, the Premier League returns in full force on Sunday with the second last set of fixtures this season. With things nearly done and dusted the only remaining places to play for are Spurs potential to pip Arsenal to the fourth spot while the final relegation position is still open with Wigan significant favourites for the drop.

If Wigan can somehow pull this off it would probably be one of their greatest escapes in history. As it currently stands, the bookmakers have Wigan sitting at a 2/7 price tag for the drop with the only other reasonable contenders seemingly Norwich at a full 6/1. That is a significant jump in price and Wigan will be fully conscious that they not only need to win both of their last two fixtures - they will need results to go their way elsewhere.

With Roberto Martinez looking more and more likely for the now-vacant Everton position, you have to wonder whether they truly do have the fight in them at this point. Credit goes to Aston Villa and Sunderland for putting together some clutch victories when they were needed most. It looks like the Latics have simply left it too-much, too-late.

Spurs must win their fixture against Stoke and they go into the match with an odds-on price of 10/11. Stoke are difficult at home and their style of play contrasts nicely with Spurs style - giving the Potters an added chance to take at least a point from this one. You get the feeling that if Spurs score early here though, it could be done and dusted. Look for Stoke at 16/5 and the draw at 23/10.

Sunderland vs Southampton could have been a much messier fixture about two weeks ago but with both sides seemingly safe from the drop, this one could turn into a bit of a non-event and wind up as a draw. They have very little between these sides, odds-wise, with 9/5 prices on Sunderland and the draw, which Southampton can be backed at a 15/8 price.
