United Trimmed to 8/11 Following Chelsea Romp

It used to be that a United v Chelsea fixture would be talked about in advance for months or even used as an excuse to debut 3D television. Not so much anymore these days with United standing tall and Chelsea appearing like they're either too old or Andre Villas-Boas is too young.

The match that just unfolded, with United taking their old rivals to school in a 3-1 scoreline, will be famous as a fixture of misses and calamities – a match akin to Ruud Van Nistelrooy getting surrounded by Arsenal players after missing a penalty.

Seeing as though Manchester United have already disposed of Spurs, Arsenal (quite handily you might recall) and now Chelsea – and by such emphatic scorelines – you can't really be too surprised to see them trading as low as 8/11 with several major bookmakers. It isn't even just the excellent form of United that's keeping their price pushed down so far, it's the fact that none of the other sides bar possibly City looks solid enough to actually challenge consistently.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool look distinctly beatable this year. Some more distinctly than others.

Wayne Rooney continues to be the favourite to high-roll the leading scorers table. The United talisman has been in a rich vein of form in his opening fixtures this year having strung together back to back hat tricks and he probably should have had another one against Chelsea. That's just the type of year United are having.

Even Javier Hernandez's injury is looking like it won't trouble him and he is expected to be back in training tomorrow. This new United side looks full of plenty of verve and veracity – expect a lot from them this year. Just don't expect much of a price.
