2020 Olympics Betting

Things have definitely gotten interesting in the sports world over the last couple of weeks as the COVID-19 epidemic has resulted in the cancelling virtually all major sporting events over the next couple of months. It’s interesting, however, that the Olympics have said that they fully intend to go ahead for the late July kick off in Tokyo.

This definitely has some interesting ramifications and you get the feeling that we may see them backtrack on that at some point in the near future if things don’t start getting better regarding the Coronavirus.

The bookmakers certainly seem to think that the Olympics will be delayed in some capacity as the current price being floated on the Opening Ceremonies actually happening on July 24th is a 9/2 listing. The odds on the opening ceremonies not taking place on that date rewards at a slim ⅛ price tag.

That doesn't bode well for those expecting things to go ahead on time, but the fact remains that if the world can recover from the Coronavirus quickly enough then the Olympics could be staged on time and that quality 9/2 price would wind up delivering for punters who backed it.

There are some odds out there on a couple of different events and the tennis portion of the 2020 Olympics sees Novak Djokovic coming in as the betting favourite to secure the Men’s title at 13/8 while Serena Williams is considered the 5/1 favourite for the women’s tournament.

Denmark are the 5/2 favourites to secure the Gold medal in handball while Germany are a 7/2 shout to pull it off, themselves. You’ll also find that Yana Kudryavtseva is the betting favourite for the women’s rhythmic gymnastics and she’s available around an 13/18 price tag.
