2000 Guineas Betting Tips Pt 1
- By A.J. There are a few really interesting contenders in the mix already and the ante post market is without a genuine standout.

Solario Stakes winner Kingman is looming as the current co-favourite at the moment with a 5/1 price that puts him right up there with Australia (the horse, not the country). There is a lot to like about both of their ability and you do have to wonder whether the Juddmonte-bred Kingman can really kick on and get the job done during his 3yo campaign.
English Classics are always hard to predict, particularly when there are no genuine standouts but there are still a lot of interesting runners here - though you do have to admit that, as of this moment, a triple crown winner doesn’t look particularly likely. There is such a large gulf in quality in what it takes to win the 1m Guineas and the 1m6f St Leger.
It was likely Kingman’s ultra-comfortable victory at Sandown back at the end of August that really sets him up for this and, though he went off at a 2/7 price tag, he only beat three other horses in that race. The switch from Ryan Moore to James Doyle was fine enough and you do reckon that his Newmarket maiden is probably a better overall gauge of quality considering the only really talented horse that he ran against was Music Theory.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained Australia is the more interesting option at the top of the market and he was able to capture a Group 3 at Leopardstown when he ran in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Trial Stakes - taking the victory when sent off at a 5/2 margin. It took him two tries to break his maiden but he got it done and the Irish-campaigned son of Galileo will certainly attract attention from plenty of punters down south.
