2000 Guineas Latest Betting Tips Pt 1

As we draw closer by the day to the widely-anticipated 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, the ante post wagering is getting even more interesting with each day bringing a few new twists in the wagering as we get closer to the actual race itself. There is a lot to like about this year’s iteration of the 2000 Guineas and it looks like many of the leading fancies from last year have been forgotten about to some extent as the major selections now are all contenders who have lit up the board and attracting some serious punting attention recently.

The big fancy at this point appears to be Kingman - who is now emerging as the genuine 2000 Guineas standout with many expecting him to be the best British contender of his generation to run at 1m+. He remains undefeated and really did his cause a lot of good by capturing the Aon Stakes at Newbury a few weeks back when he captured the Group 3 contest against a tricky-looking field of ten by a 4.5 length margin.

Sent off on the day at a 15/8 price tag, he was able to get some quality ratings sorted based on the back of that effort and he also has the distinction of having scalped Emirates Flyer back at Sandown in August of last year when sent off at a 2/ price tag.

Kingman is definitely one of those horses who raises your confidence in him just by you reading the comment lines of each of his career races - the words “comfortably” and “impressive” are generally the final notes made in each account and he looks likely to kick on next time out when he really has to tackle his first genuine Group 1 test. With a price hovering around 11/10 right now with virtually all major European bookmakers, you have to have faith that his run at Newbury last week was no fluke and he is ready to kick on nicely once again.

One of the other key players ahead of this one is widely-anticipated Aidan O’Brien charge Australia, who has looked like an absolute beast every time he goes out for a gallop and virtually everyone who lays eyes on him says that he is one of the finest beasts that we have seen in recent memory. He was able to capture everything but his first attempt - and even then he finished second by 1/4 of a length - and he really rocketed to prominence when he took the Group 3 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Trial Stakes in his denouement at Leopardstown last September.
