2000 Guineas Latest Betting Tips Pt 2

The son of Galileo - out of the famous mare Ouija Board - is still yet to have his first outing of the season and many will be expecting him to put in a performance for the ages. Not the least because most of them are opting against the ante post favourite in the market for the 2000 Guineas.

As it currently stands, Australia is priced at a 3/1 listing with most major European bookmakers but it’s going to be the last few days in the build-up to the race itself that really dictate which direction his price will go in. With so much talent on display - there is every chance that he could rise up to 11/2 if people get spooked and decide that the Guineas as seasonal debut may still leave him a bit exposed in terms of form. Or he could win up being bet down to a near co-favourites position - with which there is every single possibility.

The other real one to keep your eye on at this point is Toormore - who captured the Craven Stakes at Newmarket just this past weekend. Though winners of the Craven don’t exactly have the best track record in capturing the Guineas in recent years this undefeated horse has a few other feathers in his cap - notably a Group 1 victory at the Curragh back in September when he took the Goffs Vincent O’Brien Stakes when sent off at even money.

He was also able to best Breeders’ Cup Juvenile turf winner Outstrip in their prep race at Glorious Goodwood last year. Punters will find him trading at 11/2 and looking interesting but not quite venturing into each-way territory at this point.

The other one to watch is War Command - who finished up last year about as well as you can by capturing the Dubai Dewhurst Stakes as the betting favourite. He’s only lost once - and that was in his third career start - his first crack at a Group 1. He has forged a great partnership with Joseph O’Brien and looks to have every chance going forward if he can kick on during his seasonal debut. You’ll find him at a whopping 12/1 which is a lot higher than what you would have found him at when he was leading the market last season at the end of the flat.
