2000 Guineas Undercard Betting Preview Pt 1

While virtually everybody has their eyes firmly-fixed on the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket this Saturday, there are still plenty of interesting wagering options set to unfold in the races during the build-up and we’ll be taking a look at each of those.

While we are still not yet at the final declaration stage for many of these races, there are a few really interesting contenders standing out already - particularly in the Group level contests that dot the card. 

The opener is a very deep handicap field going 1m1f and you reckon that Trumpet Major might take a bit of action at the top end of the handicap while a few others loom as very interesting possibilities if they wind up actually getting the final entry. One to certainly watch out for is the Queen’s Bold Sniper, who is using the race as a seasonal debut.

Stand My Ground is another to keep your eye on and he looked pretty good when finishing second last time out and the good run will have done him well for his confidence. 

The next contest is a Group 3 race going 5f and featuring the usual suspects at this distance that you see in the big races and Heritage Handicap events that permeate the pattern for older runners. Kingsgate Native lines up here for a seasonal debut and is always worth keeping your eyes on. 

There is also the presence of Eton Rifles, who won on his debut a few weeks back and looks well-placed here. Globetrotting sensation Sole Power is also set to line up here and simply must be respected based on form and given the fact that he usually runs in Group 1 contests this one might be just the spot for him after a few solid runs without any real victories.
