2000 Guineas Undercard Betting Preview Pt 2

The Group 2 Jockey Club Stakes has a few interesting options from the middle eastern connections. Godolphin appears to have three different selections in the mix while Juddmonte also saddles Brass Ring. Trading Leather appears to be the real one to watch out for and he is 100% in his efforts at Newmarket - winning his only effort back in October of 2012.

There is a handicap effort coming up directly after the 2000 Guineas and that one looks to be one of the tougher puzzles of the day to solve. We will likely take a stab with Tanseeb if the ground continues to hold out the way that it is listed currently. There has been a lot to like about many of the last few efforts and a good price would certainly sweeten the deal. 

The next race up is a listed race with more than a few logical winners in it. The race goes 1m2f and, from a ratings standpoint, Barley Mow and Sir Jack Layden seem to be the real ones to watch out for at this point but it’s worth looking at the form of Sheikh Hamdan’s Mutakayeff who will be looking to build on the impressive maiden score from last time. 

The final race of the day is a 1m BOBIS race and the Godolphin charge here at the top of the handicap looks to be the most interesting as Golden Town will look to get things back on track after an up-and-down seasonal debut that saw him finish sixth. The Ed Dunlop-trained Zarwaan also catches the eye after finishing second last time out. 

All told, the action is expected to come very fast on 2000 Guineas Day at Newmarket this weekend. Expect plenty of added action and attention based on the massive Scoop6 rollover that is expected to be completed with the Guineas race itself - or at least be a key part of it. It should be interesting to see how that sort of thing is going to affect the overall pool totals and prices as we go forward. 

As for the Guineas itself - expect that many will be using some of the other better contenders in the mix on the undercard races to parlay with Kingman in an attempt to add additional value.
