2012 Dubai Dewhurst Betting Preview Part 1

The big season-ending fixture for flat two-year-olds is nearly upon us and you're really going to struggle to find a better spot to lay down your claims for Classics glory next year. This has been a really exciting flat year and with Frankel's retirement looming (and Camelot losing his undefeated status in the St Leger) you have to wonder what's next for fans of European racing.

There's a lot to like about this juvenile crop and you're going to see some great action over this 7f battle, particularly if some of the higher quality runners show up.

The ante post markets have been out for quite some time and, already, attention is starting to turn to a Godolphin entry as Dawn Approach has been bet down to a slim 8/11 in the ante post betting market. He grabbed a notable Group 1 score in the Vicent O'Brien Stakes at the Curragh when he got the better of a seven horse field that included Designs on Rome.

He also secured the Group 2 Coventry Stakes back at Royal Scot - the race that rocketed him to prominence as one of this years most high-quality two-year-olds. Undefeated, but offering little value for money, there's a lot to like about this colt but this may not be the race to back him in. You can expect a number to try to beat him here - particularly with so much talent on display from up-and-coming young sires.

Speaking of the devil, Cristofor Colombo is getting plenty of attention as one of the best runners in Henrythenavigator's debut season. He'll be feeling lucky just to be lining up in this one after coming out on top when slipping up in a Group 1 fixture back in August . Prior to that he had been knocking on the door and will be getting Joseph O'Brien for the trip.

Punters have him bet down to a 6/1 price tag and he looks good value to muster up some serious challenge - he is worthy of respect purely from a ratings perspective and perhaps needed a few of those races to really find his feet. You reckon he will either run lights out or finish tenth or something like that.
