The Richard Fahey-trained Mayson is the next best-priced contender and punters will find him hovering around 7/1 in the ante post market. He has been freshened for nearly a month and a half, with his last effort being a sensational five-length score in the Group 1 Darley July Cup.

Unraced at Haydock, all three of his victories this year have come at Newmarket.
Hoof It, Society Rock and Strong Suit are all in the mix as well – usually priced within the 8/1 – 11/1 range depending on whom you're betting with. All of them are plausible winners, but you reckon that it just might take a significant mistake from one of the top three choices if any of these ones are to actually make it home.
The usual contenders in the Group-level sprints and high-level handicaps are also in the mix here and you'll find the likes of Wizz Kid, Hitchens and Soul all floating around 12/1. Hawkeyethenoo is usually visible in contests like these and he's priced out at a 16/1 listing.
The real wild card may be the newly-returned Starspangledbanner, who was found to be infertile when put out to stud duty. He had his first on-track effort in nearly two years and he mustered a fifth-placed finish in this race to Markab back in 2010.
He has flashed the ability needed to win Group 1 contests but it's just a matter of whether he needed the race or whether he's well and truly past it.
With a 16/1 listing currently out there, some will be ready to take the gamble.
