2012 York Ebor Wednesday Betting Tips Part 1
- By A.J. Ryder on August 21, 2012 18:00 GMT
We've got plenty of high-quality racing action set to kick off for the 2012 York Ebor meeting on Wednesday and what better way to get things underway than seeing the world's highest-rated racehorse finally making the step up in trip to 1m2f? Finally set to contest a proper classic distance, Frankel will be up against a number of talented contenders including a pair of stablemates in his typical pacemaker Bullet Train and his yard's most respected international Group 1 campaigner Twice Over.

Juddmonte also boasts an entry for Frankel's full brother Noble Mission, who is certainly set to go off at a much more appealing price than his widely-praised older brother. Aside from that Group 2 encounter there are a few other very interesting races that will offer up some good striking opportunities.
The action gets underway at 2:00 in the Symphony Group Stakes, which is a handicap going 5f89y over turf listed as good to firm. Top-weighted George Baker charge Rex Imperator enters as a beaten favourite and looks set to get plenty of support as he looks to dispose of this group. He's one of the few that's been clipped over the past day or so and his 8/1 price is now floating around 11/2 with several top bookmakers.
Look out for Doctor Parkes as well who has been eased to 15/2 from a 9/1 high. He has Eddie Ahern booked for the ride and gets nearly a stone on Baker's runner. David Nicholls' Tax Free has both a course and distance victory in separate races and showed some serious improvement last time out. If you reckon he's still got it at the ripe old age of ten, you're not alone as he's trading around 10/1 with the bookies and will be worth watching on Wednesday.
Selection: Rex Imperator w/Doctor Parkes, Tax Free
The 2:30 is a Group 3 encounter boasting only a five-strong entry as Afonso De Sousa looks to be the early choice as he comes out of the AP O'Brien yard. Fresh off his maiden score after third time of asking, he comes up against Sheikh Hamdans Ebn Arab, who scored at course and distance in his maiden victory. The son of Dixie Union scored by an impressive five lengths when sent off as a tepid 5/2 favourite.
Steeler lines up with Kieran Fallon booked for the trip. He is by Raven's Pass out of a Darshaan mare, so should be able to flash some quality at this stage in his career. American Impact is taking the biggest step up but the son of Rock Hard Ten could still surprise, though he should carry the longest price.
Juddmonte's Dundonnell gets James Doyle for this one and he enters based on an impressive 12 length score over the grass at Lingfield. He was a slim 1/4 favourite on the day but flashed so much quality. Expect him to be the opening leg of numerous Juddmonte three-race parlays.
Selection: Dundonnell w/Afonso De Sousa
