2013 Breeders’ Cup Classic Ante Post Part 1
- By A.J. With Champions Day looming on the horizon in just over a month, along with the prospect of the Arc De Triomphe; there are still plenty of European flat runners heading west to tangle with the best from across the globe in the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Classic at Santa Anita Park.

There is a lot to like about this race, particularly if you follow American racing on the regular. There are some very interesting subplots developing and if know the American pattern well, you are going to be able to give yourself some real value by picking out those early ante post contenders sooner rather than later.
Most top runners only have, at most, a single race between now and the Breeders’ Cup so ante post wagers can really pay off if you get it right.
The one to watch right now in the Classic is last year’s favourite Game On Dude - who recently triumphed in the Pacific Classic at Del Mar by a whopping 8.5 length margin. He was able to best Dullahan, who had gotten the better of him in the 2012 iteration of that race. Dullahan has gone off the boil this year and remains winless after his Pacific Classic win from last year.
As it currently stands, punters will be able to back Game On Dude at a 4/1 ante post price right now and, considering that this race will take place on his home track of Santa Anita, he has a distinct advantage. There will probably be a lot of folks who are reluctant after being burned last year when Game On Dude was supposed to boss the race but fell flat when Fort Larned wired the field en route to a surprise victory.
